Bunga Bunga Italian Bar & Pizzeria

I love a place with a sense of humour - so when I heard about this place I really had to get myself along there...
The place is
Bunga Bunga - now where have you heard this phrase before? Let me remind you - the name comes from a phrase coined for the ex-Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and his infamous 'parties'. So it is no surprise to find that the place you enter is a fun Italian restaurant and bar, with surprises up its sleeve.
The
bar is the first place you enter, and instantly you are whisked away from the Battersea street you were just stood on, and into the Venice you imagine from Cornetto adverts - the bar is gondola shaped, and the decoration fun and very tongue in cheek Italian - a great place to take in the various themed cocktails on offer - including the Fiat 500 (though more serious traditional drinks and nibbles are available should you wish to remain a little more conservative...for now). The price list will also make you chuckle, due to the fact that the prices are presented in old fashioned Italian Lira (leaving you to do the conversion yourself - don't worry, it's not difficult).
Through to the
Pizzeria , which provides salads, anti pasti and pizzas with amusing names - enough to keep you sustained and ready for the dash upstairs....
...to the
karaoke room - which has to be one of the most deliberately cheesy yet incredibly fun spaces you could wish to find. The Eurovision is the inspiration, and their are pictures of previous entrants, cocktails based on famous Euro songs - even a dressing -up box full of Eurovision-outfit themed outrageousness. Friday and Saturday evening turns the space into a full on Euro disco as djs take over...
Along with a Sistine Chapel ceiling inspired staircase - this really is a place you have to see to be believed.
