This burger and shrimp restaurant in the Cube has been open for about three months and is definitely worth a look.
It's the only type of offering of this kind in Birmingham, so it wins points for being the first in my eyes, not to mention being adventurous in a city that isn't always accustomed to change.
Bun and Bowl's brave leap into the Birmingham restaurant scene was definitely a risk worth taking because all my friends have been raving about this place. And I mean raving. Two of my friends have been three times since it opened.
As payday had just injected a shot of much needed surplus cash, I decided to finally dine at Bun and Bowl with a handful of girlfriends.
The concept is simple: there are all the burger options you'd expect, including a very good Inferno burger, but there are a few surprising burgers too – and lots of choice. There are 'naked' burgers without the brioche buns.
The salads aren't bad and there are decent vegetarian options – not just a token bean burger.
The tuna burger is my favourite, though the shrimps are a great lighter, albeit messier, option.
I cannot bear shrimps, or prawns for that matter, but my friend quite literally licked her fingers after enjoying a plate full of these shellfish bites.
