On one of those Glasgow days that starts off sunny as you walk through town, and then changes suddenly as the rain appears, you need somewhere to duck into and find shelter and sustenance. If you've spent any time on Glasgow's subway service lately, you have probably seen the adverts for Buck's Bar, advertising their buttermilk fried chicken, liquor, and rock'n'roll. So, I was prepared for this. What I was not prepared for, however, was the idea that they'd managed to make delicious fried chicken healthy.
The service was very good, with the staff very quick and welcoming. The cocktail list was incredibly varied, and I really enjoyed my Buck Cherry. We ordered Korean BBQ chicken wings to share, and two different buttermilk fried chicken burgers, with sweet potato fries and salt and chilli chips.
The chicken wings were fantastic, with the Korean BBQ sauce being really addictive. The burgers were enjoyable, and while I found the sweet potato fries a wee bit too salty my boyfriend absolutely loved them, so it would just depend on your individual taste.
The atmosphere in the restaurant was fun and relaxed, with 60s rock playing throughout the open space. Buck's Bar also have live music playing most nights, and details for that are found on their website so you know who you can expect to see. I definitely enjoyed the meal here, and will now trust all restaurant adverts I see on the subway.
