If you find yourself in Leicester Square head to the right of the station and slip down a back road as if you were heading for the Covent Garden main square. You'll find, tucked away, a lovely Brown's Bar and Brasserie. The perfect place to go to pre-theatre for dinner and drinks.

You can find Brown's across the UK, 8 of which are based in central London. These suave and sophisticated bars offer the opportunity to book a table for an a la carte meal, bar snacks and cocktails or to just pop in after work or on your way to or from your destination. You can also opt for an indulgent afternoon tea with all the traditional trimmings. Their menus are quoted as "unashamedly classic".

It is a relaxed atmosphere but as this is a popular chain it does get busy. For example, you probably won't get a table if you just drop in - especially on the weekends.

I often venture to Brown's specifically for the cocktails. You can choose from an extravagant selection on their menu or just specify to the barman what you want to mix-up.

I recommend the Pear, Elderflower, Champagne and Vodka fizz, The Apple and Lychee Martini or The African Gin Sling. There are so many to choose from. Anything from classic cocktails to exotic mixes with the finest spirits. Prices start from a reasonable £5.95.

They also do offers, for example, two for one on their Signature Cocktails- although times and days may impact on when these offers are available. On a Sunday Signature Cocktails are just £4.95 from 4pm- this lasts until Wednesday closing time - bargaineous. The signature list includes: Martini; Daiquiris; cosmopolitans; long island iced tea and Havana breeze. One of the Martinis is strawberry and chocolate flavour - Yum.

The surroundings in a Brown's bar are always very elegant and tasteful. Most of them are based in historical buildings. The Covent Garden one in particular is able to play host to corporate events, weddings and parties thanks to their decadent courtrooms upstairs.

Check out the link to the Brown's website for a full menu and drinks price list, options to book and info about all their locations across the UK…

A great place to go with colleagues, friends, family or on a date. Also it is a nice place but don't worry about dressing up or feeling out of place.
