Officially registered as one of the 'Historic Parks and Gardens' for its special historic interest, is a great space which also comes with views of the city, including the Shard on a clear day.
Found in Palmers Green
has everything from a lake, pond and fountain, to a war memorial temple, playground, cafe and various sport courts. All the facilities that the park has to offer can be found
here .
The park has been going under a variety of restoration projects over the years to bring back many of its original highlights, including Broomfield House which was built in the sixteenth century. The house even has a dedicated
site in helping the restoration progress. But despite the house itself being somewhat non-existent other than most of its original scaffolding, the park has many other historic attractions.
The Coronation Gates (1953), the 1927 bandstand, late 16th century brick archway and the 1903 model boating pond are but some of the parks historic finds.
As for the park and gardens, shrubs, trees and flowers cover the vast space whilst there is also a conservatory (open every Wednesday and Sunday from 2pm to 4pm). In addition, there is also a Baroque Water Garden, community orchard and sensory garden designed for the visually impaired.
There's a community cafe (Wednesdays and Weekends 10am - 3.30pm) and often an ice-cream truck that's situated not far from the large playground. However, Alderman's hill is a popular choice for food, with
Baskerville's Tea Room or The Yard (in Palmers Green Station) or a variety of other restaurants and coffee shops just a short walk down to Green Lanes.
If you stand at the highest point of the park nearing Aldermans Hill looking South towards the City, you'll be able to spot the skyline on a clear day. Evening views are also very popular as the city is lit up. There are parking spaces which surround most of the park, as well as a variety of restaurants.
