There are special moments in our lives such as weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and funerals. Flowers are a heartfelt, time-honoured tradition of adorning these moments of joy or sadness.

It takes someone with a great passion for flowers and a truly creative flair with them to help make these special times in our lives memorable.

And Janet Redmond is that someone.

A native of Ballymena, Janet has been passionate about flowers all her life. "She's been arranging flowers for our home, church and the graves of loved ones for as long as I can remember," Janet's daughter, Lee, tells me. "Mum as well as dad love summers spent in the garden planting and nurturing all different types of flowers and greenery."

Growing up in a country village just outside Ballymena in County Antrim, Janet has always loved nature and has always wanted to have a 'career' involving lots of flowers. But she never felt quite confident enough to do it. So over the years she continued on with her clerical, accounts and secretarial jobs. Finally, in October 2013, Janet decided to take the plunge. And so her floral business, , was born.

is located in Kells, Ballymena. Janet named her business 'Bridgeview' after her house. "It's situated in a country village called Connor," Lee says. "There is a lovely stone bridge at the top of the road down into our house so mum and dad decided to name our house 'Bridgeview' when they had finished building it."

is a family-run business with Janet arranging the flowers while her husband, Steven, son, Christopher, and daughter, Lee, help out with deliveries, advertising and managing their Facebook page.

Unique floral arrangements
With her lifetime experience in floral arranging as well as her professional qualifications in floristy (Janet has completed courses in posy-making, basket arrangements, orchid arrangements, contemporary arrangements and advanced floristy, to name a few!), Janet has developed a unique touch which can clearly be seen in all of her flower arrangements. Janet especially enjoys trying new and different ideas, such as floral arrangements in teacups and teapots, hatbox arrangements, and shoe arrangements.



She also creates seasonal arrangements such as pumpkin arrangements and vase arrangements that incorporate both flowers and vegetables.


Classes and workshops
, however, doesn't just offer floral arrangements. If you have ever wanted to learn how to do it yourself, also offers special flower arranging classes as well as floral crown workshops where participants make gorgeous floral crowns (which they can take home) and enjoy a delicious homemade afternoon tea too. These classes and workshops are perfect for hens parties, birthdays and girly days. And starting on the 1st of December, will be running Christmas wreath-making classes which include a festive tea and mulled wine. "New ideas are always coming up at ," Lee says, "and Mum loves trying new projects and arrangements so it won't be long before she is running other classes as time permits."



With a growing clientele and customers coming back for more, Janet's passion for flowers is certainly blooming in the right direction! "We want to encourage Mum as much as we can to share her passion and God-given talent with others," Lee says, "and we love seeing how much her work and creativity truly blesses them."
