Brand new to Chiswick High Road is the Italian pizza chain Brickoven Milano. Founded in 1997, and with five restaurants already established in Milan, this is their first attempt at expansion into the UK. The chalkboard outside claims they serve the best pizzas in Milan; well now they serve the best pizzas in Chiswick too.

The restaurant itself is huge, with a children's playroom, drinks area, lounge bar and a big main dining room out to the back. Try to be seated in the lounge bar as this is a much more relaxed and intimate setting than the brightly lit dining area.

The menu is, of course, heavily focused on pizzas - there are two pages worth to choose from - however there is also a good selection of meat dishes, burgers, pastas and salads too. But, for pizza-lovers, the oval shaped, thin-crusted creations are a must. The light base is made from a special yeast-free dough mixture, and the toppings are varied, fresh and tasty.

Price-wise, the pizzas are mostly around £8-£12, and desserts - which include 'Brickoven coffee tiramisu with chocolate shavings' - are £5-6. It's a great choice for an inexpensive, laid-back lunch or dinner, and in the warmer months there is a courtyard to sit out in.

To get to Brickoven Milano, the nearest tube is Stamford Brook on the District Line and there are also regular buses up and down Chiswick High Road. You can follow the restaurant on Twitter - @brickovenmilano.
