Participate is some good old traditional English fun at the
Brick Lane Village Fete on the 28th July. You can find the fete at St Matthew's Church in Bethnal Green, where from 12pm-7pm, there will be all kinds of family activities on the green.
Look out for the bunting, because that's a sure sign that you've made it to the market, where local traders and businesses will be on hand with a smorgasbord of delicious fresh food, trendy vintage clothes, retro vinyls, and various arts & crafts.
Bring your faithful pooch along for the Bowowow's Best Dog in Show, or if you have no canine companion, then compete yourself (but not in the dog show). Bring back old school time memories with classic sports day activities such as the egg and spoon race and a sack race.
Running not you thing? Competitions for the gluttons include 'Slide a Pint', and scoffing three cream crackers in under a minute.
If you have any vinyl records from times gone by, bring along your favourites to have them played. For something a bit more modern, DJs such as Jonny Trunk, Jerry Dammers, Newton Dunbar, Martin Green, and Nachos will be scratching tunes throughout the day.
In addition to the fete, Brick Lane's Art Auction will be on the 25th July at 6.30pm.
