There is something pretty special in Brixton. For fans of the printed word, there is a bookshop you should know about, and it won't cost you the earth - in fact far from it.



is a second-hand bookshop which can be found on Coldharbour Lane, and because of the fact that it stocks previously owned goods, it is a treasure trove for the lover of printed matter. There are all the usual sections you would expect to find in a normal bookshop - art, history, computing, business etcetera, but because of the nature of the store, you really cannot know what will be in stock even from one week to the next, so every time you visit, it will be an adventure once again.

The layout makes for an interesting route around the shop, with lovely little nooks everywhere to sit and read, as well as a slightly more open raised section at the back, where parents can sit while their children peruse the kids books that are located up there.

The nicest part of this bookshop for me is the delightful dog that can be seen often dozing in the shop window. This is Rosa, and she is as much a part of the shop as the counter and bookshelves. In fact, when the owner decided to go for a little extended adventure, taking the dog with him, the loss of Rosa strolling through the aisles of the shop was palpable.
