There are celebrations going on across the city to mark Bollywood 100 – a century of Indian cinema – and too right, Indian cinema has launched the careers of major celebrities never-mind showed the world that Bollywood is a serious rival for Hollywood.
The Drum exhibition
Think of the fair Aishwarya Rai, the great Amitabh Bachchan and Bassment Jaxx's 'Romeo' music video: Bollywood cinema is an amalgam of great attention to detail; beautiful, forlorn damsels, energetic dance routines and men who have more brawn than lines.
I like to watch Bollywood cinema because it steals your heart, it's total escapism, and the wardrobe is always stunning.

While there are numerous celebrations of Bollywood cinema across the city the major collection of movie posters at The Drum is one of my favourites. It's a free exhibition until the 29th of June, so there's plenty of time to have a look at the imagery behind iconic and less-known films. Go along and have a browse or peruse the other sites around town where paying homage comes in the form of music, dance, and art.
