During my three years of living in Glasgow, a group of friends and I have regularly met up at Bloc. Someone found out about their weekly deals, and from there we were hooked.



From Monday to Friday, the food deals range; presenting pasta, burgers, steak, fried chicken, and hot dogs (with vegetarian and even vegan options too). We most often come down for steak Wednesdays, where I discovered and fell in love with Bloc's peppercorn sauce. For £5 you get a 6 ounce steak, a fried tomato and mushroom, chips, and a side of that addictive peppercorn sauce. As one friend pointed out, you'd be hard pressed to buy and make the same meal yourself at home for any cheaper. Add to the cheapness that it's absolutely delicious, and you can see why we come here so regularly.



While - because of the popularity of their weekly deals - the restaurant can be pretty busy, their turnaround is pretty quick, and the service is always really friendly. So, if you're waiting at all, you're doing it either outside or by the bar surrounded by a good atmosphere. Bloc also serves as a music venue, with live acts performing after 8pm most nights. Aside from their weekly deals, their menu caters to everyone, with the restaurant's inventiveness showing from the names of the foods (Vladimir Poutine) to the creativity of the dishes (Buckfast Ice Cream comes straight to mind). The bar is always well stocked, and even offers several "Bloctails".

The food is fantastic, and on top of that it's really affordable, and it is the restaurant in Glasgow that I most often recommend when people need a place to go out. Just remember to always order the peppercorn sauce.
