I've eaten here quite a few times and recently popped back in for lunch with my sister in law. As always the staff and and bar manager were friendly and attentive. I know the menu quite well so knew that the southern fried chicken fillet burger with chips would tasty and good value, as it's part if a lunchtime burger meal deal. My sister in law had the regular burger with bacon and cheese. Unfortunately she concluded that the burger was a little greasy but the bacon was tasty.
The Black Horse has a number of good value meals deals on different days. The Burger and a Drink Meal Deal is available midweek lunchtimes for £6.99. Mondays and Tuesdays they have a steak and a drink from £7.49, Thursdays is all about the curry and drink for £5.99, Fridays is Fish & Chips and of course as you would expect, Sunday is the roast at £6.99. Children are welcome and there's a nappy changing table in the disabled toilet. However there was only one highchair when I visited so it's a little restrictive if you came with a group of friends and kids.
While the Black Horse has a varied menu, it's not all about the food. As a community pub, it's also a place to come just for a drink of one of their wide range of both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. They even have Coca-Cola in the iconic glass bottle. If you just fancy a cup of coffee, don't worry it won't be instant as they have a proper coffee machine to make your latte or cappuccino. There's also a pool table if you fancy a game.
