The ultimate wine experience takes place in Birmingham on Saturday October 17, 2020.
The Wine Staycation blends the finest wines, expert sommeliers and exciting food pairings at Birmingham's iconic
Rotunda building, which has been converted to serviced apartments.
Guests will enjoy an overnight stay at the venue, which features panoramic views of the city, hand-picked premium wines – including a chilled glass of Grand Cru Champagne – and perfectly-paired cheeses by independent wine bar
Arch 13 delivered directly to their door.
Joining guests live via Zoom from the Rotunda penthouse will be wine-aficionado Tony Elvin, of The Wine Events Company, and
Nigel Wilkinson , one of only 269 Master Sommeliers in the world. As well as working for the esteemed Boutinot wines, Nigel is one of the judges for the Decanter World Wine Awards.
The expert duo will lead an interactive guided tasting and share anecdotes and their vast knowledge of the world of wine.
The event is presented by Birmingham festival organisers, Living for the Weekend – the brains behind Birmingham Cocktail Weekend and Birmingham Wine Weekend.
Alex Nicholson-Evans, founder of Living for the Weekend, said: "%%The Wine Staycation is the most exclusive event we've ever held, it will be an experience like no other. Not only will it celebrate some fantastic premium wines, but it brings together wine lovers in a way that is personal and interactive while remaining socially distant, in a fantastic location with fellow independent operator, Staying Cool.
"The year has been challenging – to say the least! – and we were heartbroken to have to cancel Birmingham Wine Weekend and Birmingham Cocktail Weekend, and to postpone the launch of Birmingham Restaurant Festival. However, I truly hope that after a tough few months this event, shaped around government guidance, will give our wine lovers some much-needed fun!"%%
Bookings for The Wine Staycation are now open, with prices from £150pp. The price includes a one night stay in either a studio or two-bedroom apartment, including breakfast of cereals, juice, espresso coffee and teas, and the Wine Weekend experience, including six wines and paired cheeses, served as part of the virtual tasting including a glass of Grand Cru Champagne.

If government restrictions on travel or overnight stays at hotels or aparthotels return, or a second lockdown is imposed in Birmingham, the event will be moved to another date.
