Birmingham Royal Ballet is to take their hit work Black Sabbath - The Ballet out on the road again later this year with the UK tour beginning at Birmingham Hippodrome in September.

The show, which features Black Sabbath tracks including 'Paranoid' and 'Ironman,' played to sell-out venues across the UK after it premiered in Birmingham in 2023. The company performed it in Rotterdam last spring and this summer they take it to the stage in the United States of America before embarking on its UK tour.

Taking in Birmingham, Salford, Plymouth, London and Edinburgh Festival, tickets for Black Sabbath - The Ballet go on sale on 19 February.

The tour was announced at a press event by BRB director Carlos Acosta in which he also paid tribute to the company’s CEO Caroline Miller who died in December just days after announcing she was stepping down from her role.

“We have a couple of moments and actions to celebrate her life and her career with us and in the field, how much she impacted not just on all of us but the entire field,” he said.

These events include the upcoming Ashton Classics performance at Birmingham Symphony Hall on 15 February which is dedicated to Miller.

The company is also to celebrate BRB director laureate Sir Peter Wright’s centenary with a gala performance at Birmingham Hippodrome on 18 February 2026. The company will present a triple bill of some of Wright’s favourite pieces including The Green Table, Themes and Variations, and 5%Birthday Offering%% in June of next year.

Acosta’s colourful production of Don Quixote will be revived, with a tour beginning at Birmingham Hippodrome in February 2026.

The new announcements will follow a busy year as 2025 sees the company touring Cinderella from next month, Sleeping Beauty in the summer and The Nutcracker in November and December.

BRB’s second company BRB2 is also touring with Carlos Acosta’s Ballet Celebration in May.

“Following the company’s most successful Nutcracker season ever, preparations for our spring 2025 tour of Cinderella are well underway,” Acosta said. “Already we are looking ahead and I am so happy to announce the return of two of the most recent jewels in BRB’s crown, Black Sabbath - The Ballet and Don Quixote.

“Among my many achievements, these productions are two of which I am most possibly proud as I mark five years with the company. I continue to honour the memory of my close collaborator and CEO Caroline Miller in my first season without her by my side, and we all remain positive and excited about what lies ahead.”
