The press launch of Birmingham Fashion Week 2013 took place on Wednesday 20th February at Mechu on Summer Row and appeared to be a quiet success. Although the turn out did not appear to be overwhelming, the location and nibbles were very adequate. From popcorn to cupcakes and champagne, all appeared to be catered to.
However if this event is what the actual event will be like then I'm not sure whether its worth attending, as the turn out was low and atmosphere was quite cold.
I hope they make the main event better and get Birmingham and fashion on the map.
The Birmingham fashion scene is nowhere near the established scene of London, but it seems for a second city we are lagging behind intensively. Bristol is able to put on better produced shows and events then Birmingham. Maybe this is because of the higher production values in Bristol or maybe because there is a lack of interest in this and people would rather save money.
Well, let's just hope this is not the case and the scene grows and flourishes.
