The long-running annual Birmingham Comedy Festival returns from Friday 4 to Sunday 13 October 2024 and boasts over 80 performances across 10 days - with more than 30 of them Free / Pay What You Want too!

With big names, like Sarah Millican, Milton Jones, Rachel Parris and Jason Byrne, as well Richard Blackwood, Maisie Adam, George Lewis and Jonny Awsum, there are plenty of international stars too, including South Africa's Schalk Bezuidenhout, Aussie Frenchy and American SNL writer Sam Jay.

One of the biggest events in the festival is undoubtedly the Birmingham Comedy Festival Breaking Talent Award 2024 which takes place at The Glee Club on Thursday 10 October 2024.

The event sees five of the very best emerging comedians from the region - Dom Bant, Lin Smith, Rich Spalding, Tom Towelling and Gareth Williams - vie for the award.

An exciting chance to see the comedy stars of tomorrow, previous Breaking Talent nominees and winners have included such acts as Josh Pugh, Celya AB, Lindsey Santoro, Gary Powndland and Eric Rushton.

The festival also hosts two Free Half-Dayers on consecutive Sundays (Sun 6 and Sun 13 Oct). Running from 1pm at Cherry Reds and The Victoria pub, both on John Bright Street in Birmingham's City Centre (close to New Street Station), each afternoon features eight one hour comedy shows - many of which come fresh from the Edinburgh Fringe.
Among the comics attending are Eric Ruston, Rob Kemp, Sian Davies, Tal Davies, James Cook and Jules O'Brian.

All shows are Free / PWYW, with no prior booking required.

Other festival highlights include a staging of scripts from previously lost Hancock's Half Hour recordings, a Laurel and Hardy triple-bill, a special Family Show with Robin Morgan and guests, plenty of improv (with Jumprov!, Behind The Headlines and more), and some of the very best comics from the city and surrounding area, such as Shazia Mirza, Jo Enright, Jonny Cole, Hasan Al-Habib, Rachel Baker, Richard Dadd, Joe Bingham and Mary Flanigan ...
