A new production of the comedy Billy Liar, starring Marcus Patrick, is being staged to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Croydon's Fairfield Halls.
Billy wanders around with his head in the clouds, juggling fantasy and reality with comic results – until his carefully-woven web of deceit begins to unravel around him, and he faces a decision which could change the course of his life.
Marcus played Ben Davies in Channel 4's Hollyoaks and also appeared in ITV's Echo Beach and the BBC series Doctors. Earlier this year he toured in Wildboyz, a show described as "a hilarious romp...The Full Monty meets Ibiza".
The show co-stars Samantha Siddall, who plays Mandy Maguire in Channel 4's Shameless. Set in the Sixties, Billy Liar is written by Keith Waterhouse and Willis Hall, and directed by Ninon Jerome.
Performances run from Wednesday 31 October to Saturday 3 November, with a special 50th Anniversary performance on Friday 2 November at 7pm, and Thursday and Saturday matinees at 2.30pm.
Tickets priced £10 Wednesday evening, all other performances £18, concessions £14, are available from the Fairfield Box Office on 020 8688 9291 or online at www.fairfield.co.uk
