When I saw this on the menu, I assumed it was a passion fruit cake, but I could not have been more wrong. When I stuck my fork in, and gave it a bite, there was a distinct spicy flavour to it. A few more bites in, I was able to determine that this was in fact carrot cake. Now, there is nothing wrong with carrot cake - I actually like carrot cake very much - but the name it is given on the menu is very deceptive. I don't understand why they don't just call it carrot cake since that's what it is. If they insist on calling it passion cake, then at least give a description of what you are ordering before hand.
Deceptive naming aside, I'll move on to the cake itself. The icing was nice and smooth, but I think it was too thick and too sweet. The carrot cake had a touch of spice, which was probably ginger, and while it was nice, I've definitely had better. It came with a scoop of Chantilly cream with pieces of grated carrot, which I thought tasted awful, but as this is the first time I have had this cream, it might just be that I don't like Chantilly.
