Here's The Big Issue: to eat pancakes or not to eat pancakes?
The answer couldn't be more obvious. I mean, the name Pancake Day does kind of give you a clue, doesn't it?
So The Big Issue is in fact: Where to eat pancakes?
Not as tough a choice as you may think. Yes, there are tons of places celebrating Pancake Day on the 4th May, but how many have a lineup of amazing singers, and how may are raising money for charity at the same time? After all, Shrove Tuesday is a Christian holiday, so shouldn't there be some aspect of giving involved.
On the 4th March, The Secret Showcase Presents The Big Pancake Party. It will be held at Floripa, a Brazilian restaurant on Great Eastern Street, with festivities starting from 5pm. Entry is free, but they will be taking donations for The Big Issue Foundation. The charity was set up in 1995, and they work with vendors to tackle homelessness.
As well as irresistible cocktails and pancakes galore, there will be three great performers to keep you entertained, starting from 8 o'clock. Seraphim Kelly from Belfast is a country singer with a deep voice reminiscent of Johnny Cash's 'Solitary Man'.
Whom By Fire play haunting blues music that would fit into a macabre fairytale, while The Severed Limb are a six-piece band from London, inspired by US skiffle. Their instruments include a guitar, bass, drum, accordion, and a washboard.
