Because female friendships are worth celebrating too

Inspired by Leslie Knope of Parks and Rec, Galentine’s Day is an excuse for girl pals to get together. While Valentine’s Day is traditionally reserved for romantic partners, Galentine’s Day means that women can have their own day, where they can spend time with everyone from their sisters to best friends to mums to aunts. Galentine’s Day is officially celebrated on the 13th of February, but as that falls on a weekday this year, there are plenty of things to do on the weekend too. Read on to find out how you can make the most of this special day.

1. Afternoon tea at Richoux

Whisk your besties away for afternoon tea at Richoux , an elegant tearoom in Piccadilly. Tuck into a delicious Classic Afternoon Tea (finger sandwiches, scones, pastries and tea) or Champagne Afternoon Tea (the same as the previous option, but with a glass of champagne). Don’t forget to try a signature ‘Cruffin’, which is a cross between a croissant and a muffin, and comes with mouthwatering flavours.

2. Visit Selfridges

Selfridges is one of the best places in London to visit with your girlfriends. Established in 1909, Selfridges is a high-end department store found along Oxford Street. The store has a fantastic selection of books, designer clothing, and luxury jewellery, as well as an amazing food hall. There are plenty of dining options in Selfridges, including the Brasserie of Light, Aubaine, EL&N Café and Din Tai Fung Restaurant.

3. Design your own perfume

For a special Galentine’s Day, grab your besties and head to the Experimental Perfume Club in Seven Dials. Book a session with a trained perfumer during which you’ll be able to create your own personalised perfume. Narrow down your fave scents and give your perfume a unique name.

4. Watch Magic Mike’s Last Dance

Swoon over topless Channing Tatum and Alex Pettyfer, who star in the new film Magic Mike’s Last Dance. Channing Tatum will appear as the titular dancer once again, and this time he jets across the Atlantic to London with a wealthy socialite played by Salma Hayek. Magic Mike’s Last Dance is out in cinemas tomorrow.

5. Join The Yellow for their Galentine’s Event – Me, Myself & I

Head to The Yellow in Wembley on the 12th for a day full of self-love and sisterhood. Tickets cost £20 per person and include a one-hour SOS empowering dance, talk / discussion on positive self-discovery and single life, meditation, and more. Plus, you’ll leave the event with a goody bag.

6. Have a spa day

If you and your friends need a little pampering, why not splurge on a spa treatment? London has so many spas that will leave you feeling completely relaxed, and you’ll instantly forget about all your troubles. Some of the best spas in the city include Agua Spa at Sea Containers, Linnaean in Nine Elms, Four Seasons Hyde Park and House of Elemis.
