I am a big roast dinner lover and sometimes there is nothing worse than soggy roast potatoes, instant gravy and tough meat, so here are a few of my favourite suggestions for a Sunday lunch outing.

The Hawksmoor Seven Dials
11 Langley Street, WC2H 9JJ

A fabulous Sunday roast at The Hawksmoor – a char-grilled rump of Longhorn beef with all the trimmings and crispy roasties. All the meat comes from Yorkshire-based butcher Ginger Pig and is truly scrumptious. £19.50 for their Sunday roast, but it's worth it.

The Clarendon, Notting Hill
123a Clarendon Road, Notting Hill/Holland Park. W11 4JG

The Clarendon does a range of roast lunches all for £14.95 - beef, lamb or pork belly (with crackling of course). You can eat downstairs or up on the terrace so if it's a nice day, I would definitely recommend eating on the terrace. The service here is brilliant, the staff are very attentive and the food comes in large portions and is truly delicious.

The Bull and Last
168 Highgate Road, London, NW5 1QS 020 7267 3641

At The Bull and Last, Sunday lunches are this pubs their trump card, they are that good. Make sure you book in advance to get a table. The meat here is really delicious but the trimmings are just as good. The veg are crispy and expertly cooked, as are the potatoes but the Yorkshire puds are something to write home about, absolutely huge and weightless, I could have gone on eating!

Dean Street Townhouse
69 - 71 Dean Street London W1D 3SE

Get some traditional English grub at Dean Street Townhouse, a cosy Soho rendezvous perfect for a Sunday. With three courses for £30, the Sunday set menu is a steal: start with potted shrimps, then indulge in chicken or Hereford beef with decadent sides such as cauliflower cheese or buttered greens, before finishing off with Eton mess or homemade ice cream.

York & Albany
127-129 Parkway, London NW1 7PS

Sunday lunch at this Gordon Ramsay restaurant - York and Albany, is a relaxed affair, available from noon to 8.30pm. The kitchen, overseen by Colin Buchan, is a typically tight outfit, serving the likes of roast corn-fed chicken with olive-oil purée and roasted leg of lamb with garlic new potatoes, all for £17. Definitely worth the trip. The staff are attentive and the food exceptional. You won't go away from here feeling hungry.

Harrisons
15-19 Bedford Hill Balham, London SW12 9EX

One of my favourite places to go for a roast for its huge portions, great staff and value for money. Harrison's do a Sunday set menu which is £19.50 for 2 courses or £22.50 for 3. The roast beef here is excellent but they also do a roast pork too; both come with all the trimmings.

Harrison's opened in October 2007 and is a 90 seat restaurant. It does tend to get quite busy on a Sunday so worth booking up if you know you are going, however, they always make room for drop ins too.
