The Bernadette Corporation is a New York Based group that over the years has worked in a number of mediums including film, magazines, politics, and clothing. in the 1990s, they set up their own women's fashion line, featuring street wear and DIY haute couture. Although it was high end design, their marketing strategy put a complete twist on the brand, by using dancing bear mascots and high school cheerleaders to promote the line. At the same time as running a business, they managed to make a satirical attack on Capitalism by taking the mick out of catwalk subculture. Although they eventually closed down the venture in 1999, The Bernadette Corporation are now taking a retrospective glance back at the old days. Up until the 9th June, you can go to the Institute of Contemporary Art and the type of clothes they designed. These dresses are only replicas, and it is a shame that the originals are not on display, but it still gives you an idea of what the Bernadette Corporation is about.
