This isn't just a restaurant, it's also entertainment...

Benihana is almost like theatre, which sets it apart from many other restaurants - I mean, how many can say that they have no kitchen to speak of?

So, a restaurant without a kitchen. ... I guess this might have aroused your curiosity ... let me explain. Once you enter the restaurant you will see that tables are organised horseshoe-like around a large grill plate - this is known as a Hibachi grill, and is were the action all takes place. Once you've ordered your food a chef appears at your table with the raw ingredients, and so begins the magic ...

Onions are turned into smoking volcanoes, shrimp tails are flipped into the chefs hats, and raw ingredients are turned into mouth-watering dishes before your eyes.

The idea behind the restaurant started in New York, as a way to introduce Japanese food into a packed restaurant scene. When the first restaurant opened, little was known about Japanese food, and the idea of cooking at the table was not heard of - skip forward to the present, and Japanese food is known everywhere - and you can enjoy Benihana in three locations in London, of which two are in Piccadilly and Chelsea.

Take someone special, or even the whole family, enjoy yourself, and let the magic unfold before your eyes - with the added benefit of being able to eat the results!
