A wander around Clapham is always a good way to spend a weekend day, in my opinion. It's even better when you discover this rather glorious establishment just a few footfalls from the tube station...

is a perfectly situated pub a hop, skip and jump from Clapham Common - so perfect for summer refreshment (or indeed a winter escape from the weather). It does all the things a pub should do, plus a few surprises too. Look at the menu for example. Not only are the meat eaters catered for, but also vegetarians and vegans, and not in a token way - nearly two-thirds of the menu is either vegan or vegetarian, including such staples as burgers and roasts.

Naturally, thanks to the location, you would expect the pub to fulfil its role as a community hub, so it's no surprise to find that there is a strong and active event program here. As well as the staples (pub quiz, live sports on the big screen) there is also regular live music, and celebrations of events such as Australia Day, and even a very interesting anti-Valentines!

With great decor, a homely feel topped off with the great central Clapham location, you are going to find it very, very difficult to top this place - the kind of pub to buy the weekend papers and veg out in, it really is a pub for all seasons.
