Belgrave Music Hall is incredible. My best friend Emily and I discovered it after getting tickets to see Childhood play in April. I fell in love with the place there and then, and so did she.

Belgrave has many levels. The ground floor sells food and booze, and is a relaxed set up. You can drink and chat and gorge yourselves. Upstairs is the smaller bar, where the gigs are held. So far I've seen Childhood and East India Youth here, and the atmosphere is very intimate. The dizzy euphoria you feel from these gigs can't be beaten. Travel up another few flights of stairs, and you'll find the roof terrace. When the sun comes out in Leeds, race to Belgrave, grab a beer and enjoy an afternoon gazing at the skyline.

Look out for the Grindhouse Cinema, which is on some Sundays. Upstairs is rearranged and classic films are screened for free. My housemates and I loved the Breakfast Club/Ferris Bueller's Day Off double bill, and the comfy sofas made the whole experience so much better.

While Patty Smith's burgers and the Doughboys pizzas are cheap as chips (look out for the 'half price slice' deal), the drinks are a little more pricey. However, the money you've saved on food and gig tickets will more than make up for that.
