There was no shortage of joy and excitement on offer in a popular Staffordshire park when a fun-packed day of children's entertainment was rolled out as part of the current school summer holidays. Beacon Park in the centre of Lichfield city staged a Fun Day on August 7 which attracted hundreds of children and their families to the delightful open air setting. And, fortunately for visitors young and not so young, the weather stayed kind throughout the day so as not to spoil the fun and enjoyment on offer.



Organised by Lichfield District Council, there was no shortage of happy, smiling faces at this year's Fun Day event, with a range of games, activities and attractions on offer, ranging from giant inflatables and a miniature steam train to a variety of stalls. If that wasn't enough to keep everyone entertained, the day also included a barefoot walk, rides on a carousel, craft activities, target games and much more to have a go at. The Teddy Arena, where children competed in teddy themed races, was a particular highlight of the day. Children, along with their teddy bears, took part in various races, including ted and spoon, ted on the head and teddy wanging. There was also a best in show competition to find the ugliest, scruffiest and best dressed teddy bears. And, to top off the bear-themed fun, the park's giant teddy mascot, Ranger Ted, also made a special guest appearance.



Councillor Liz Little, Lichfield District Council's Cabinet Member for Recycling and Leisure, said: "Beacon Park was packed with children and their families for our 2019 Fun Day. Well done to everyone who competed in the teddy races and entered their teddies into the best in show competition. And thank you to the parks team for making the day such a success." There are plenty of other things going on at Beacon Park over the summer for people of all ages to have a go at. On top of a summer story trail available every day of the holidays, on most days children can also have a ride on a donkey and have a go on a pedalo on the boating pool, enjoy bouncy fun, play a round of crazy golf or try foot or disc golf and more.
