The theme is Bond, James Bond, as 007 gets musical tribute
The name is Bond, James Bond! But, for one night only, 007 will be 'licensed to thrill', not kill, as the legendary big-screen spy is given the live theatre treatment. The internationally acclaimed BBC Big Band is ready to 'shake not stir' the stage of Tamworth Assembly Rooms in Tamworth, Staffordshire, to celebrate the music of the world's most iconic movie franchise, James Bond. The BBC Big Band will be joined at the Assembly Rooms by special guest vocalists Emer McParland and Iain MaKenzie on Friday, October 8. The audience is invited to don their 007 glad rags and get ready to be entertained by all the famous and familiar Bond theme tunes and musical tracks as they reminisce about some of the very best Bond movies ever to grace the giant screen. The concert is set to feature classic numbers including Diamonds are Forever, Thunderball, We Have All The Time In The World, View to a Kill, and Goldfinger, as well as John Barry's iconic James Bond theme. There will also be a selection of more contemporary numbers from the James Bond musical library.
Widely regarded as the world's leading and most versatile jazz orchestras, The BBC Big Band continues to delight audiences around the world through their broadcasts on BBC Radio and their live performances. In addition to its regular studio and broadcast work, the BBC Big Band regularly gives live performances at major venues around the UK, including Proms in the Park in Hyde Park, Cadogan Hall, The Royal Albert Hall, Manchester Bridgewater Hall and Liverpool Philharmonic Hall. Adey Ramsel, Tamworth Assembly Rooms Theatre, Artistic and Events Manager, said: "The BBC Big Band are world-class musicians, making this a truly unique evening of the best iconic musical entertainment. We are delighted they are able to perform in our amazing theatre and know that audiences will not be disappointed. With the release of the new Bond film - "No Time To Die", on the same date as this show in the US, this is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the 007 music soundtracks, ready for the film action later this year in the UK."
