The 2022 season of shows at The Alexandra in Birmingham begins on January 4 with the award-winning Bat Out Of Hell: The Musical .

Packed with classic tracks from Meat Loaf 's three Bat Out Of Hell albums, the show was a smash hit when it played limited seasons at Manchester Opera House, London Coliseum and London's Dominion Theatre from 2017 to 2019. The musical also ran successfully in Canada, Germany and at New York's City Centre in 2019. It won the Radio 2 Audience Award for Best Musical at the Evening Standard Awards and was nominated for eight WhatsOnStage Awards, including Best New Musical.

The current UK tour is dedicated to the memory of Bat Out Of Hell composer Jim Steinman , who passed away on April 19, 2021. He had the vision to transfer Bat Out Of Hell from vinyl to stage, supplying the book and incorporating iconic songs from the albums, including You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth, Bat Out Of Hell, I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That) and Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad, as well as two previously unreleased songs, What Part of My Body Hurts the Most and Not Allowed to Love.

In the musical, the songs propel an epic story of rebellious youth and passion, with Strat, the immortal leader of The Lost, falling in love with Raven, the beautiful daughter of the tyrannical ruler Falco.

Glenn Adamson stars as Strat, Martha Kirby is Raven and original cast member Rob Fowler takes the role of Falco. Also in the cast are Sharon Sexton, Killian Thomas Lefevre, Joelle Moses, James Chisholm, Kellie Gnauck and Danny Whelan.

Producer Michael Cohl said: "We've all been through a lot over the past two years and we now need a really good night out with friends and family. This musical was Jim Steinman's life-long dream and he was incredibly proud of the love the show received from critics and audiences alike. This tour is in memory of Jim."

The Bat Out Of Hell album was released in 1977 and has become one of the best-selling albums in history, with over 50 million copies sold worldwide. Sixteen years later, Steinman scored again with Bat Out Of Hell II: Back Into Hell, which contained the massive hit I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That). In 2006 Bat Out Of Hell III: The Monster is Loose, the final part of the trilogy, was released.
