Taking on the lead role is TV favourite Brian Conley as circus owner Phineas.T. Barnum, while Linzi Hateley takes on the role of Chairy.
P.T Barnum was billed as America's Greatest Showman and this show charters his life and loves, including his marriage to Chairy, a woman who provided the backbone to his family life while Barnum created a big top full of dreams.
The story in Barnum moves towards Barnum's collaboration with another showman, J A Bailey, to ultimately create Barnum and Bailey's Circus – the Greatest Show on Earth.
Vibrant with costumes, circus acrobatics and lively songs, the score by Cy Coleman includes favourites Come Follow The Band, The Colours Of My Life and There Is A Sucker Born Ev'ry Minute.
Cameron Mackintosh - the producer of renowned shows Les Miserables, Cats and Phantom of the Opera - is behind the lavish new extravagant musical.
Barnum the musical has an illustrious history - the show dates back to 1980 when it won three Tony Awards and a Drama Desk Award after premiering on Broadway. That production starred Glenn Close and Jim Dale. Transferring to London in 1981, it gained further success with actor Michael Crawford, who scooped an Olivier Award for his performance as Barnum.
Circus tricks and glamour in Barnum
Brian Conley, speaking about Barnum, said, "It's such an amazing show, full of great songs, comedy and colour and telling the true story of one of the great showmen of his time, PT Barnum.
"I remember seeing Michael Crawford's Barnum at the London Palladium and ever since have dreamed of playing the role and now, thanks to Michael Harrison and Cameron Mackintosh, the dream has come true."
This latest production of Barnum got its premiere at Chichester Festival Theatre's Theatre in the Park in July 2013 playing to almost 70,000 people.
