Ever since my mother moved to Barnes some years ago, I've become more and more aware of the charms offered by this onetime village in south London. There are interesting shops and places to eat as well as Barnes Pond and the River Thames, and
Barnes Food Fair returns to
Barnes Green for the third year on 21 September.
Last year the event was attended by more than 3,000 people purchasing local and regional delicacies and foods from more than 80 producers. Everything was under a giant marquee just in case the good old English weather played tricks again. There was also an open air restaurant area serving specialities like hog roast and crepes.

This year will see a range of exhibitors under canvas. These will include
Madame Macaroon,
The Tapestry Tapas Bar and the
Stockholm Restaurant and Deli. And if you would like to see how it is done, rather than just eat the produce, the Barnes Food Fair Cookery Theatre will run from 11am until 3.30pm in the Barnes Green Centre.

Sadly dogs aren't permitted, but
Bruce's Doggy Daycare will be providing a crèche for all four-legged friends.
