A Warm Wolverhampton Welcome
A few miles from the bustling centre of Wolverhampton, snuggled next to Penn Golf Club on Penn Common surrounded by country walks, you'll find the homely and welcoming pub/restaurant The Barley Mow.
The building dating back to the 1600s still has many of its original features, including a very low doorway; so watch out for that after sampling their selection of real ales.
We received a warm and friendly welcome at the bar and the staff made a good effort to accommodate my request for vegan food which was a well executed toasted salad baguette and chips. My friend had the vegetarian lasagne with chips and mushy peas which was gigantic and satisfying, although "more vegetables in the lasagne would have been good" - health food isn't their forte, but decent pub fayre definitely is.
If you visit during good weather you can make use of the outside seating but otherwise there's room inside for maybe 40-50 punters, and there are a few board games to keep you occupied, with children and dogs made welcome, too.
They hold regular events including folk nights, as well as dinner & drink specials evenings.
