Last year's ATP finals were a roaring success. The battle between two of the greatest tennis champions in the world saw Novak Djokovic take the title from six-time champion, Roger Federer. But there was little rest for them after that because Barclays ATP World Tour is in full swing once again. At the moment, the players are competing in the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells in the USA, with daily matches until the 17th March. They will then be at the Sony Open in Miami before heading off to Casablanca. In all there are sixty tournaments and four gruelling Grand Slams before the champions can go through to the all important final, which will be taking place at the O2 Arena between the 4th - 11th November. The finals will use a round-robin format, with each player competing in at least three matches during the group stages before the knockouts in the semi-finals. Unless something goes drastically wrong, you should expect to see global superstars such as Rafael Nadal and our home boy Andy Murray. I also expect another thrilling head-to-head against professional rivals Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer.
My mum is a Tennis-a-holic; she she will watch match after match, long after most have lost the will to live. Whenever her 'nice Mr. Federer' takes to the court, things get very tense. Anything within touching distance will get squeezed within an inch of its life. It is lucky that she prefers to watch tennis on the telly, because otherwise she would be taking permanent residence at the arena.
