Downstairs bar area of Aveika
Owned by leisure and entertainment company the Gainford Group, Aveika opened in late November of 2015 on Newcastle's popular Quayside.
With beautiful food, tasteful d้cor and attentive waiters, it's no wonder that Aveika is quickly attracting guests from far and wide. The restaurant area manages to retain a sense of peace as guests can watch down on the lively cocktail bar below, and an enormous, dripping chandelier is mirrored around the room, serving as the focal point which ties together the upstairs and downstairs areas.

The food is modern, though served on traditionally-styled Japanese tableware. If chopsticks aren't your forte you needn't worry, as the waiters will offer Western-style cutlery for those who prefer it. The extensive menu has many smaller options, easily lending itself to shared, tapas-style dining.

With careful choosing, it is possible to have a reasonably-priced meal at this high-end restaurant. Look for the meal deals and consider sharing a few smaller dishes this way will not only help you save but also let you sample a wider variety of cuisine. Also, specify that tap water will be fine; otherwise you will find yourself paying an exorbitant amount for Voss artisan bottled! However, if you are willing to pay a bit more you will be rewarded in the exquisite quality of the food available. I strongly recommend getting a bottle of sake served hot with your meal for an authentic Japanese experience and a head-start on the downstairs drinkers!

At the cocktail bar there is plenty to choose from, and live DJs will play a mixture of house and lounge music until the early hours. To really make a night of it, Aveika recommends you book yourself and your friends into the private mezzanine booth and enjoy VIP service I don't know what that specifically entails, but would love to find out!
All in all I have thoroughly enjoyed my visits to Aveika, and look forward to returning soon.
