Eye-catching images of star trails, meteors, eclipses and Aurora Borealis are among the entries in this year's Astronomy Photographer of the Year Competition.
The annual competition, organised by the Royal Observatory, Greenwich in partnership with BBC Sky at Night Magazine, and powered by Flickr, receives submissions from photographers all around the world. The photos are on display in a free exhibition at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich until 22 February 2015.
The Royal Observatory has partnered with Collins to produce a hardback book featuring all 120 winning and shortlisted entries for 2014. With a foreword by the presenter of the BBC'S The Sky at Night, Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock, this collection offers remarkable views of the wonders of the universe, from our own solar system to distant galaxies.
