It's a slow start for Hobgoblin; Acorn pushes into the lead; Brewsters Hop a Doodle Doo is coming in from the left side, but has been cut off by Grafton Lady Mary. As they approach the first hurdle, Holt Humdinger looks like he may - yes its a refusal. That's set him back.
If you don't recognise any of these racers, don't worry; you haven't been slacking off. These are the names of real ales. On the 3rd and 4th October, they will be vying for your attention just as jockeys down on the track, because Ascot's eighth CAMRA Beer Festival is returning.
An exhilarating day of flat racing will be enhanced by over two hundred and twenty thirst quenching real ales, craft beers, ciders, and perries. These will include four exclusive festival specials:
Binghams Brewery's Thirst Past the Post 5% red ale Rebellion Beer Co.'s Photo Finish 4.2% golden ale Vale Brewing Co.'s Bandwagon 4.9% black IPA XT Brewing Co.'s Palomino 4.3% pale fruit beer
Beer vouchers can be bought in advance or on the day and cost £2 per half pint. If you are booking for groups of ten or more, then there are also discount packages available. Standard tickets are £15 - £20 in the grandstand and £20 - £27 premier admission.
The weekend's main race is the Totepool Challenge Cup with a grand prize of £150,000. Other events include the BMW Cumberland Lodge Stakes and the John Guest Bengough Stakes.
