The Dulwich Picture Gallery are making the most of the sunshine, and are taking art outside for the summer. Join them for a series of creative workshops in the garden. There will be weekly family sessions every Wednesday between the 6th - 27th August from 2pm - 4pm. Children can find their inspiration by looking at the art inside the gallery, and the for £3, venture outside to pursue their own projects. As well as arts and crafts, families can bring along a picnic, sit on the lawn, and watch the artwork grow each week.
So what inspiration are you going to find on your visit? There are currently two exhibitions Running at the Moment. Art and Life explores the work of married couple, Ben and Winifred Nicholson, who painted landscapes and seascapes of their travels; it is interesting to compare the different techniques they used.
An Impossible Bouquet examines four masterpieces by Jan van Huysum, a Dutch still-life painter from the eighteenth century. His bouquets are, however, illusions, because the feature non-native plants that bloom at different times of the year, shown together in one scene.
