An inside look at outside in
outside in, regina layfay, pallant house gallery

Pallant House Gallery is the home of Modern Art in Chichester. At the moment, its collection includes work from the Outside In project, which is a 'ground-breaking' exhibition by artists on the 'edges of society'. The gallery is holding many events in the following weeks that are related to and run by the project.

13th & 27thJanuary, 2pm-4pm
Sunday Art Classes

These two hour art classes will teach you new techniques while experimenting with a range of mediums. You will also explore the stories behind the works of featured artists at Pallant House Gallery.

The first of these classes will focus on portraiture, and the second doodling.

The classes are 5 each, and you are required to bring your own materials.

16th January, 11:00am
Curator's Tour: Jean Dubuffet

A tour of the Jean Dubuffet collection costs 8 or 4.50 for students.

17th January, 6:00pm
Outside In On Film

A free screening of the documentary by filmmaker, Lou Pack, with interviews with artists from the Outside In project, including sculptor, Ricard Wilson. The documentary will be followed by a Thou Art film, which is a research and development project about the links between community art and mental health.

24th January, 6:00pm
Bobby Baker: On the Drawing of Breath

Performance artist, Bobby Baker talks about how mental illness brought about a remarkable collection of drawings. The talk is 8.50 or 7.50 for students. You can also book tickets with wine, which are 12.

27th February, 11:30am & 1pm
Artwork of the Month Talk & Workshop - Grey Schooner (n.d.) by Alfred Wallis

Learn about the Grey Schooner collection by Alfred Wallis in a free talk, followed by an 8 workshop that studies the use of colour in his sea paintings.
