Every now and then, you have to splurge for a beauty treatment. Maybe you get a wax, maybe a mani-pedi, or a full-body massage. Whatever you do, if you're anywhere near Kingston Upon Thames, you should go to Aroma Secrets.



Privately owned and operated for the best part of 20 years, this salon was the only shop in the entire Bentall centre to receive a 100% rating across the board from mystery shoppers earlier this year. They were rated on cleanliness, quality of treatment, and superior staff, and deserve every high mark.

What drew me to this salon was my friend's experience. Now, normally when she gets her eyebrows waxed, they are bright red and swollen for hours afterward. I knew something was different when she walked out with barely pink skin, a smile on her face, and beautifully shaped brows. I found out that the tea tree oil in the wax makes it especially hygienic and kind to the skin. Just a few days later, I made an appointment for a bikini wax to give it a try (my eyebrows were already done, after all).



Nikki told me all about their waxing technique and what makes it safe and gentle compared to other shops. She made sure I was completely comfortable after only a short wait in the lounge, chatting with the owner of the store, Britt. After I was situated, Nikki got straight to work, chatting and making me feel at ease (as at ease as you can feel when you're not wearing pants, let's be honest) while doing her job efficiently and quickly. Before I knew it, the treatment was over. 15 minutes; easily the fastest wax I've ever had, and the least painful. I was given a combination of lavender and tea tree oils to put on my skin, which immediately soothed it and kept any residual wax from sticking to my clothes. Thirty minutes later and there's no redness to be seen.

All in all, this was the best experience I've ever had at a salon. No awkward paper knickers, no tweezers, no threading, and actually, a pretty good laugh with the technician. I would recommend it to anyone.
