Growing old is a fact of life, but looking old does not have to be. The beauty market is worth millions, as we all scramble for the latest products to reclaim our youth. Whether you are looking for a cream that will reduce wrinkles, a hair product that will hide greys, or even a bit of nip and tuck, there are hundreds of products out there that all claim to make us look younger. The only problem is, which do we choose and which do we trust? Half the stuff on the market doesn't do a darned thing. I may be too young for anti-ageing products at the moment, but I know from experience with other face cleansers that high street products rarely do what they say on the package. It can also be very confusing when adverts on the telly use swanky jargon that the average consumer won't understand.
At the Anti-Ageing Health and Beauty Show, you don't have to worry about that. Taking place on the 11th-12th May at Kensington Olympia, it is the first UK event dedicated to helping men and women keep looking fabulous at any age.
At the show you will be able to talk to and get advice from professional health care experts, medical consultants, leading make-up and hair stylists, and beauty specialists, who will guide you through the range of options available, and what products are right for you.
Many of the exhibitors are people who you will not find on the high street, which means they do not mass produce, and therefore value quality over quantity. Most of the brands that will be at the show, I have never heard of before; these include Phillips ReAura, which specialises in electronic accessories such as shavers and exfoliating brushes. There is also High Barn Oils, a family farming business that sells nutritional supplements such as omega 3 and linseed oil. With demonstrations, a chance to sample the products, and exclusive discounts, it is an opportunity to save and look good.
As well as beauty products, you can also find out about surgical and non-surgical beauty treatments such as skin peels, laser eye treatments, dental work, and collagen shots - they even have a collagen bar, where you can enjoy a glass of bubbly. There will also be competitions, in which you have the chance to win NuBo beauty products worth £1000 or £500 towards any non-surgical treatment from the Waterhouse Young Clinic.
Celebrity guests, and professional speakers will be giving talks over the weekend, teaching you about the diet and exercise regimes, and providing hair and make-up tips.
Tickets to the show are £15, and include a goody bag containing a show-guide and free samples.
