What have butterflies got to do with cocktails, you might ask. A legitimate question; butterflies are not necessarily the first thing you would associate with an alcoholic beverage. But butterflies play a very important part in creating
Angostura, a Trinidadian bitters, because when these beautiful creatures dance, that's when they know that the sugar cane is ready for harvesting.
As part of London Cocktail Week, Angostura is bringing a touch of Trinidad to Shoreditch with a unique pop-up plantation in the form of a
Butterfly House. Between the 9th - 12th October at New Inn Yard, you can take a stroll with the butterflies, press your own cane of sugar juice, and see it made into a specially themed cocktail.
Accompanying events cost £9 and include a 'Cane to Cocktail' talk, a showcase of their rum, and an expert butterfly talk. There will also be a free 'Float Like a Butterfly' cocktail challenge.
