Springwatch and Big Cat Diary presenter Simon King is set to reveal his 'wild side' during a one-man show at the Lichfield Garrick theatre in Staffordshire this June. Known to millions of television viewers as a face of wildlife programmes Springwatch and Big Cat Diary, the naturalist and broadcaster will be starring in An Audience with Simon King at the Garrick theatre on June 21. Simon will deliver a fully illustrated talk during which he will take his audience on a journey of discovery, showing how everyone can talk to the animals in their own neighbourhood and get first class views of wildlife as a result - a sort of real-life Dr Dolittle.

Simon's love of wildlife began in his childhood home in Africa; it certainly influenced his first career choice which was to become an elephant when he grew up! His first TV appearance was as an actor in one of his father's, John King, wildlife dramas called The Fox. Simon has vivid memories of the discomfort of being dressed in knickerbockers and the delight of holding a fox. At the age of only 13, he teamed up with naturalist Mike Kendal to create a series of programmes entitled Man and Boy, his first foray into explaining the mysteries of nature to the general public. He has since gone on to create, film, direct and present many award-winning television programmes and films, some of the best known being Springwatch, Big Cat Diary, Planet Earth, Blue Planet and the Life series plus, more recently, African Cats for Disney. Simon has now given up on the idea of becoming an elephant, but has never given up on the idea of ensuring the survival of this and every other species that inhabits this planet.

An Audience with Simon King includes an extensive Q & A session, giving members of the public the opportunity to chat with Simon about everything from the wildlife on our doorsteps to his adventures as a wildlife film-maker all over the world. Discover stories of filming creatures as diverse as killer whales (for the landmark series Blue Planet) Great White Sharks (Planet Earth) and of course lions, leopards and cheetahs (Big Cat Diary). Simon King will be at the Lichfield Garrick on Thursday 21 June at 7.30pm. Tickets start from £18 and can be booked via the Box Office on 01543 412121 or at www.lichfieldgarrick.com
