Going to the pub? The same old pub? Craving something a bit different? Well, before you have yet another trip to your local, follow me - we're going to Amersham Arms.
The Amersham Arms is to pubs what energy drinks are to the tired; a real boost of energy that will make you feel glad you went there, especially if the alternative music scene is your particular adrenalin-shot of choice.
It is very much a student pub in feel but, just like the sadly now defunct Foundry in Shoreditch, the vibe is such that upon entry you feel instantly part of it. The size of the venue adds to the interest. It really is huge, with an upstairs gallery and two large music rooms besides the pub room proper, allowing for all kinds of interesting events to take place within its walls.
Hidden all the way out in New Cross, it may be a trek if you're making your way from other parts of London, but you will be blessed with a unique atmosphere and, depending on which day you come, anything from DJ's to live acts and even a rather good comedy night.
Some of the past acts to have made an impact on todays music scene include James Blake and Ghostpoet, so come along and you may see a star of now, or even better, discover an indie star of the future.
