One place in Birmingham that definitely needs recommendation for quality service and delicious food has to be Akbars. Ideal for weddings, parties ,any other special occasions or even just a casual restaurant chill out with friends or family, Akbars serves its guests with a mix of entertainment, luxury surroundings and food cooked to perfection. Located on Hagley road, the Birmingham based Akbars is a delight to go to.
Like myself every time I go there, guests can be dazzled by the glitzy displays and designs of the hallways as they walk into main area which consists of chandeliers, leather seating and overall very stylish decoration. There is exact detailing in every part of the restaurant, including the toilets! The mixed of glamorous style and traditional luxury Indian food adds to the delight experienced by every guests that enters this place. With a variety of vegetarian and meat dishes, delicious desserts and grand selections of wines and other alcoholic beverages, it's safe to say that there is enough at this place to satisfy anyone. A word of warning though, when ordering naan bread, you will only need one if your party consists of four people, they are fairly huge.
Though the pricing may seem a bit much for set menus, the Akbars franchise claims that its aim is to deliver luxury service and rich style to each of its customers through deliverance of authentic Indian cuisine. Prices for starter dishes range from the amounts of £2.50 to £4.00 with the majority of main courses at £7.00 to £9.00. Desserts are rich yet enjoyable and very Indian. They serve a variety of traditional Indian and Non-Indian sweet dishes, from gulab jamuns to ice cream giving you a real variety to chose from.
The menu is very varied in order to suit the needs of a wide range of food lovers offering grand mixes of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes in decent sized portions as well as offering ranges from traditional Desi or Punjabi style dishes to chef specialties to traditional Indian Balti dishes. The meat dishes are all also halal, so members of the Muslim community can enjoy a wider range of foods.
Dishes defiantly worth trying are in the chef specialties section of the menus, as well as some of the chicken dishes in the Balti section. Evidently, they like to keep it traditional here by serving main dishes in traditional metal cutler,y as well as playing mixes of old and new Indian pop and Bollywood music to listen to, giving it that homey sort of touch. I find the staff there are also very friendly and helpful. When it comes to deciding what to order, they always seem to be willing and honest about what best serves your taste buds and the service is both quick and efficient, as it should be.
I would recommend this place to you, should you want to experience luxury environments, as well as traditional Indian cuisine. With good quality service and elements of exact detailing and perfection virtually everywhere, Akbars is one luxury Indian restaurant that is definitely worth checking out!
