Living and loving with HIV
Real life stories of love, intimacy and HIV form the basis of a new theatre production due to play at Birmingham's A E Harris Building. A co-production between Outbox Theatre and London pub and venue The Glory, Affection looks at how people negotiate life, work and relationships, shining the spotlight on themes of stigma and shame but also triumph and hope.

Outbox Theatre's Affection

Outbox's company of all LGBT performers focus on telling the forgotten and unheard stories of the LGBT community. Previous productions include The Front Room and Reach Out and Touch Me. Featuring a wholly LGBT cast, Affection aims to be raw, funny and honest. Based on the stories of people living with HIV, it follows work with London-based HIV charity Positive East.

Outbox artistic director Ben Buratta says: "Outbox have been telling the stories of the LGBT community for the past six years, working nationally and across generations. We want to tell stories about those living with HIV in new and dynamic ways. By creating a dialogue with our audiences we aim to help stop the stigma surrounding the condition and present stories that reflect a fuller picture of those living with HIV."

Affection comes to Birmingham after playing The Glory in London.

Jonny Woo, performer and co-owner of The Glory, says "The Glory is quickly getting a reputation for quality theatre exploring queer issues so we knew that we wanted to invite Outbox for a residency. We love their work and know that they will bring an amazing show."

Affection plays A E Harris in Northwood Street, Birmingham on September 30-October 1. For tickets click on www.eventbrite.com and for more information see www.outboxtheatre.com
