Some people are Hobbits. By that, I don't mean they are short with hairy feet, but rather that they like to stay put. To a Hobbit, home is wear the heart is; they're adage is, if you keeping saying 'home sweet home', why leave it in the first place?
Some people are Bilbos. Bilbo might be a Hobbit, but he is an atypical Hobbit. Bilbo Baggins left his cushy life in the Shire and went off on an adventure.
If you year for excitement, to explore the outside world, to meet new people, and visit interesting places, then you are a Bilbo. Fortunately, you have better guides than Dwarves at your disposal. You can find them at the
Adventure Travel Show on the 17th & 18th January 2015 in the Olympia Grand Hall.
At the event you will be able to meet dozens of specialist adventure travel companies, listen to over a hundred inspirational talks, learn how to improve your photography for gorgeous holiday snaps, and attend seminars that will tell you how to become a travel writer. They wouldn't recommend spending as long on your book as Bilbo did.
Special highlights include
Discover Africa, a large area full of exhibitors who have all the supplies and knowledge you need to make your safari trip the best that it can be.
Adventurous Jordan will help you soak up the sun, culture, atmosphere, and enduring trails of Jordan, with advice on places to explore, such as Wadi Rum, Jordan Rift Valley, and the Red Sea resort of Aqaba, where you can go scuba diving, snorkelling, sailing, fishing, swimming, water skiing, and wind surfing.
On the Saturday, Austin Vince will hold
The Adventure Travel Film Festival. He has picked some great films, several 'shorts', and a feature length movie to enjoy. Tickets to the festival are £25, while entry to the show is £8 or £12 for a weekend pass. You can also buy at the door for £10 or £15 respectively. Under 16s go free.
