When you think of a live orchestra, children aren't usually the target market, but on January 25th the
City of Southampton Orchestra will be putting on a special performance that has families in mind.
A Trip to the Zoo will be a fun family event that features live music and dancing the kids will love.
The performance will be conducted by John Till and narrated by Phil Cheesman. The orchestra will be accompanied by
the New Forest School of Dance who have choreographed their dancing to match the orchestral numbers. Each of the family friendly songs has been chosen because they all feature animals, from the Lion King, to Carnival of Animals, and even Isobel's Noisy Tummy - based on David McKee's children's book about a little girl with a very noisy tummy who visits the zoo with her class.
The show is being performed at Central Hall on St Marys Street - just a short walk from West Quay and nearby shopping centres. Tickets for the event are £8 for adults, £5 for children or £25 for a family ticket for two adults and up to two children. Tickets can be purchased online from the
City of Southampton Orchestra website .
There will be two performances of A Trip to the Zoo. One at 11am and one at 2pm. Last year's family concert sold out, so book your tickets in advance if you don't want to miss out. Parking is available in nearby multi-story carparks and some on-street parking surrounding Central Hall.
