Make sure you don't miss this art exhibition in Rochdale which starts on
Saturday 20th January 2018.
This is an art exhibition with a twist. There will be no giant canvasses or large pieces, instead artists will be sharing their work on postcards. This is your chance to see what they can create with only a tiny amount of space. The event showcases the work of local artists, both established in the industry and those new to the field. It is a true reflection of the work of people living and working in the area. The exhibition is also a competition with prizes being awarded by a panel of judges to recognise the best work. Prizes of £100 will be given out to the winners as chosen by the judges. The overall winner will have their postcard professionally produced and sold in the gallery's gift shop.
The exhibition will share work from the gallery's collection alongside entrants to the competition. Taking place at
Touchstones, the museum, art gallery and cafe in Rochdale, the event is a great way to showcase the area to visitors and promote the town. The postcards are a mix of scenery and imaginative pieces. This is a great idea for an exhibition as locals can share their love of the area.
Touchstones is a great place to visit as it has a museum and art gallery which are free to visit. On display is a large collection of art and artefacts. Located in a grade II listed building the venue has been updated and the museum and gallery now have more space to display the amazing collection. Easily accessible from public transport the venue is easy to find and centrally located in the town. Many of the local car parks offer free parking for up to three hours so you can easily visit the exhibition. This is the perfect show for art lovers and local residents. Come and support new and established artists and see if you can pick the winner of the competition. The exhibition is located in Gallery One at the Touchstones building.
On
Saturday 20th January 2018 between 1pm to 3pm an opening ceremony for the exhibition will take place with a speech from the Mayor at 1.15pm. This is
free to attend and there is no need to book so just come along for the start of what is set to be a great show which is running until
Saturday 14th April 2018.
