Outdoor theatre is set to be a midsummer's dream with audiences invited to watch a special open-air performance of Shakespeare's classic play. The delightful grounds of medieval Tamworth Castle in Staffordshire will be the perfect setting for the Bard's fantastical comedy,
, on Saturday, September 4 from 6.30pm. Tamworth Borough Council's Arts and Events Team are delighted to announce the live theatre production, which will be taking place against the stunning backdrop of Tamworth Castle. Performed by Heartbreak Productions, Shakespeare's most popular play of love and intrigue has been adapted for a new generation to enjoy through highlighting climate change. The performance will emphasise the importance of the environment and using our earth's resources wisely. Sets and costumes are made out of recycled materials, highlighting the issues within the piece and to help initiate a greener approach to productions. Part of the audience interaction before the show will focus on issues such as recycling to illustrate kinder ways of using our world's resources.
This live experience will bring a modern twist to a theatre event, to thrill families and people of all ages, as they sit back and enjoy being taken on a flight of magical fancy and watch the drama unfold as real life is mixed with the supernatural. People are urged to bring their own picnic, or grab refreshments from the onsite facilities and enjoy the show within the stunning surroundings of the Castle Grounds. The show, which is recommended for children aged from eight years old, is one of many outdoor events organised by Tamworth Borough Council's Art & Events team. Councillor Robert Pritchard, Deputy Leader of Tamworth Borough Council, said: "
We're delighted to be able to host events again and so pleased to confirm the rescheduling of this hilarious adaptation of Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream. The Castle Grounds is a superb setting for a bit of theatre and this show definitely promises to bring the drama."
