What child hasn't dreamed of riding everyone's favourite steam locomotive? Thomas The Tank Engine might be a fictional character from a book and television series, but he might be a little more real than you think. On the 29th March, a full-sized working model of Thomas will be chugging into the Watercress Line in Hampshire, offering rides to all visitors until the 7th April. It is the perfect day trip, with rides between Alton and Alresford stations running all day.
Tickets are £16 for adults and £10 for children on the day, or you can
book in advance and get a £1 off. For your money you'll get more than just one train journey. You'll have the choice of riding in Thomas' Carriage, Toad the Brake Van, and Diesel's friends' cab, as well as getting the chance to meet The Police Man, The Vicar, and shake hands with The Fat Controller. All children who takes a ride will get a Thomas sticker and certificate.
There will also be a roundabout, bouncy slide, face painting, colouring, a Punch & Judy show, a
Thomas & Friends DVD screening, and a marquee to have a picnic in.
