56 North, 'Scotland's original gin bar with cocktails, craft beers and kitchen'.
This bar is sophisticated and friendly, and the home to more gin than you could wave a stick at. Seriously, there's oh so much. And the food is *almost* as good as the extensive alcohol selection, serving everything from breakfast to burgers (with a fabulous 2 for 1 deal, may I add), and as the sponsors of the Edinburgh Equestrian Club, you'll find me here pretty often.
They also feature a new menu in which you can treat yourself to two delicious courses (starter and main) for £20, which is worth every penny.

Meal @ 56 North
Don't get me wrong, this is unlikely to be a frequent stop for students, but for special events in a relaxed atmosphere and fantastic location (shockingly close to the central campus), this place is a gem. The staff are incredibly friendly t everyone- regardless of whether you're a university fresher or a seasoned gin connoisseur.

Starter @ 56 North
We decided to have our Christmas dinner here (being students, cooking it ourselves proved challenging), and it was such a great experience. They provided a set menu, Christmas crackers and a warm environment to celebrate- and there isn't really much more you can ask for.

Main @ 56 North
The house wine (if of course, you're not a fan of gin- if you are, definitely go for the gin) is lovely, and won't set you back too much. All in all, this place is absolutely perfect for a special occasion or social event, and I would really recommend you pay it a visit.

Dessert @ 56 North
In addition, the pudding is excellent.
Pros: Impressive bar, friendly staff, central location
Cons: A little pricey
